Toucan Diving Bonaire Joins “Malicious Delicious”

Toucan Diving Bonaire and Stinapa join forces during the Lionfish derby

Since many years Lionfish have been an invasive species to the Caribbean waters and threatening the juvenile fish population. On Saturday April 9^th Toucan Diving Bonaire donated a boat and crew to be apart of Malicious Delicious. An event hosted by STINAPA (Bonaire National Parks Foundation) to keep the fish population balanced by hunting the Lionfish.

Despite the gorgeous looks, the Lionfish is a major threat to the beautiful reefs of Bonaire. The Toucan Diving Bonaire crew partnered up with STINAPA by giving them a hand to hunt the Lionfish during their daily trip in the marine reserves. Toucan Diving Bonaire provided the ‘Golden Eye’ boat during the event and accommodated a total of sixteen divers during the derby. All divers did a 2 tank boat dive at the Playa Frans Reserve and shot a total of 110 Lionfish.
